About the laboratory
Description
Our research interest is to develop a methodology for evaluating the efficiency and the benefit of the transportation network of road transport, air transport, general public transport, and so on. Especially, we focus on the network reliability analysis such as travel time reliability and connectivity reliability. We also analyze the impact of natural disasters on the transportation network.
Organization of research
Each student belongs to one of two research groups in our laboratory: Prof. Uchida and Assistant Prof. Tani’s group and Associate Prof. Sugiura’s group. Students join the meeting of their research group (held almost weekly) and the joint meeting with two research groups (held almost monthly). In Prof. Uchida and Assistant Prof. Tani’s group, the research meeting is held weekly. Each of B4, M2, and doctoral students gives a presentation on their research every two weeks. Everyone uses English in the research meeting in our laboratory.
Ongoing projects
(1) Development of a network design model considering the penetration of connected autonomous vehicles (Prof. Uchida)
(2) Development of network-scaled traffic state estimation method considering the uncertainty of road surface caused by the natural disaster (Assistant Prof. Tani)
Enrolled students' research topics
Prof. Uchida and Assistant Prof. Tani study the methodology related to transportation networks, including road networks, air networks, railway networks, and other public transport networks.
