Research topic

Development of a novel detection method of infectious enteric viruses

Research abstract

It is crucial to evaluate and manage a risk of infectious diseases caused by enteric viruses in environmental water. Although there are plaque assay and TCID50 assay to evaluate infectivity of viruses, these are not applicable for some viruses which do not present cytopathic effect (CPE) and take over 24 hours to determine the concentration. In this study, we focus on cellular responses which is induced initially when cells are infected with viruses, which will lead to develop a rapid detection method of infectious viruses.
