To the faculty on the snow carpet

In my childhood, I have watched some Japanese teledramas. When I watch those, a keen desire began in my mind on the Japanese culture. However, I didnʼt think that one day I can come to Japan. Luckily I got a sterling opportunity to do my Ph.D. in Japan after completing my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Sri Lanka. Currently, I am affiliated with the Laboratory of Biotechnology for Resources Engineering, Division of Sustainable Resources Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Hokkaido University, and working on the fabrication of inorganic-organic biohybrid material through biological routes.

Hokkaido University is located in Sapporo city in the Hokkaido prefecture, the northern prefecture in Japan. Eventhouthgh the university is located in the middle of the city, the environment is very calm and green. If I talk about the student life in Hokkaido, it is a wonderful experience I ever had. Since Hokkaido is the northern prefecture in Japan, this is the best place who want to enjoy the snow. The most exciting period for me is the winter season. It is been three years since I came to Japan though, I am still enjoying the snow. I am from a hot country, but it was not difficult for me to adapt to the winter. During the winter seasons, I could do a lot of snow sports and activities such as skiing, ice skating, and ice fishing for the first time in my life.

I hope the time I spent at Hokkaido University will be an unforgettable memory in my life.
