Transition metal dichalcogenide

Transition metal dichalchogenide (TMDC) that is a group of 2D materials like graphene has attracted much attention due to the potential application. Unlike graphene, the electrical properties of TMDC can be tuned by changing the combination of element. TMDC includes metal, semiconductor, and superconductor. We are trying to synthesize MoS2 and NbS2 film using originally desinged CVD apparatus with high controllability. Highly oriented monolayer MoS2 can be synthesized on sapphire and NbS2 thin film showed the charge density wave at low temperature. In addition, MoS2 nanotube can be synthesized using FeO nanoparticles as catalysts.

Nano carbon

There are still unreachable areas in solid state chemistry of carbon because the high energy and high temperature is necessary to study for it. We try to synthesize new solid carbon materials by controlling high energy reaction with plasma-CVD, alkaline metal, electrochemistry, new catalyst.

Nanowire

Our dream is to fabricate nano electronic circuit using nanowire. Sensor, micromachien etc. will be drastically developed by nanotechnology. At the first step, nanowires are synthesized by chemical vapor deposition. Solar cells, nano-composite magnet, and application to plasmonics are also included in our research interest.
