• The COE Workshop on Material Science in 21st Century for the Construction Industry- Durability, Repair and Recycling of Concrete Structures
Thursday 11 August, 2005
Hokkaido University Conference Hall, Sapporo, Japan

Aim of the Workshop:

Recently, the deterioration of concrete structures in early age is one of the major issues, because the deterioration mechanism of concrete structures from the view point of material science has not been yet fully understood. Wastes from other industries have been used as additives in concrete, and the amount of waste used as additives will increase in the future. In order to achieve “a sustainable infrastructure system”, we need to discuss the material science for prolonging service life of concrete structures and the technology for effectively using waste as additives in concrete.
