Development of Adsorption Heat Pumps

On September 16, 2016, Nihon Netsugen Systems Co., Ltd. held a new product launch event in Tokyo. Along with their eco-friendly new products, such as chillers using CO2 and ammonia refrigerants, ground-source heat pumps, and solar thermal collectors, our laboratory exhibited the adsorption heat pump currently being co-developed with Nihon Netsugen Systems as a NEDO project.

The 2016 Annual Conference of the Japan Society of Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (JSRAE) was held at Kobe University from September 7 to 9, 2016. Our laboratory delivered ten presentations at the conference.

We were also delighted to reconnect with our laboratory alumni, Mr. Yuki Nabeshima (Toyohashi University of Technology) and Mr. Ryo Ogura (Kawasaki Heavy Industries).

Visited the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST)

On Friday, September 23, Professor Nagano, Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Jorge, and our intern, Bastien, visited the Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA).

They toured the Energy Network Unit and the Geo-Heat Section to gather information on cutting-edge technological research.

Presenting at the SHASE Annual Conference 

The Annual Conference of the Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning and Sanitary Engineers of Japan (SHASE) was held at Kagoshima University from September 14 to 16. Our laboratory delivered eight presentations at the conference.

2016 Laboratory Trip
Our laboratory trip took place over two days on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20. In addition to playing park golf at Iwamizawa Rose Garden, we visited the Mikasa Railway Museum, Asahikawa Science Museum "Sci-Pal", and Kobayashi Shuzo Sake Brewery.

Master's Thesis Presentation
On Wednesday, August 10, the Master's thesis presentation of Tazia Rahman, a second-year Master's student in our laboratory, was held in Meeting Room A1-01, Building A, School of Engineering. Thank you for your hard work, Rahman-san!

Visit from the College of Engineering, Pusan National University (South Korea)
On Thursday, August 10, a signing ceremony for the faculty-level exchange agreement between the College of Engineering, Pusan National University (South Korea) and our Faculty of Engineering was held in Meeting Room 2 on the second floor of Restaurant Enreiso. For this signing ceremony, we welcomed two guests from Pusan National University: Dr. Suk Lee, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Associate Professor Nam. It is expected that close and substantial exchanges will be fostered between the two institutions in the future.

Arrival of Internship Research Student, Bastien
Mr. Bastien Bringuier, an internship research student from the University of Poitiers in France, has arrived in Japan. For the next three months, he will be working with us in our laboratory on research titled "Smart Communities Centered on Ground Source Heat Pumps." Welcome to our lab!
