Professor Nagano presented the interim results of the commissioned research project, "Development of an Indirect Ground Source Heat Pump System for Low Cost and High Efficiency, and Development of a Design/Performance Prediction Simulation Tool and Potential Evaluation System Utilizing Geographic and Geotechnical Information," at the FY2017 NEDO New Energy Achievement Report Meeting (Thermal Energy Utilization Field).

Mr. Yin Liu, who has been staying with us as a special research student since April, is completing his program this month. To mark the occasion, Professor Nagano and Dr. Togawa held a farewell luncheon with him.

Professor Nagano and Visiting Associate Professor Togawa gave presentations at the International Sorption Heat Pump Conference (ISHPC) held at Waseda University from August 7 to 10.

On Friday, June 30, Ms.Aoki, a collaborative researcher in our laboratory, retired from her position. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for her dedicated work.
We wish her all the best and continued success in her future endeavors.

On Friday, June 23, we held a laboratory BBQ, which also served as a farewell party for Ms. Chiemi Aoki, a collaborative researcher who will be retiring at the end of this month.

On Monday, June 5, Professor Nagano was honored with the Demand-Side Management Award and received the Chairman's Award from the Heat Pump and Thermal Storage Technology Center of Japan (HPTCJ) for FY2017 at KKR Hotel Tokyo.

On Friday, April 28, we held a welcome party for the five new 4th-year undergraduates who recently joined our laboratory.

With the start of the new academic year, Ms. Liu Ying from Chongqing University in China arrived in Japan as a Special Research Student. We look forward to working with her.

We are also pleased to announce that Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Sakata has been appointed as a Specially Appointed Associate Professor at Hokkaido University. Congratulations!

We held a farewell luncheon at Restaurant Elm for our research assistants who will be leaving at the end of this term.
