The research fields of our laboratory primarily include transportation
planning, urban planning, traffic engineering, and construction management.
While the main academic discipline is civil engineering, the research also
integrates knowledge from related fields such as economics, information
engineering, sociology, psychology, geography, and history, making it highly
interdisciplinary.
The research subjects encompass automobiles, railways, subways, buses, airplanes, bicycles, walking, roads, transportation facilities, cities, and urban development. In line with Hokkaido University's traditional role in contributing to the region and society, the laboratory broadly addresses urban, regional, and transportation issues. Research activities include analyzing people’s travel behavior and awareness, developing analytical methodologies, designing and developing new urban and transportation systems, and proposing strategies and policies.
