From ETC11 to TC3

  • ETC11 (1994–2001): Geotechnical aspects in pavement design & construction — Chairs: Steve Brown (1994–1998), António Gomes Correia (1998–2001). Core topics: empirical→rational design, geomaterial properties, compaction, grain crushing, freeze–thaw, high-speed embankments.
  • TC3 (2001–2013): Geotechnics of Pavements — Chair: António Gomes Correia (2001–2009).

TC202 (2009–present)

  • 2009–2013: Chair: António Gomes Correia — bridging pavement/rail & geotechnical engineering; environmental aspects.
  • 2013–2021: Chair: Erol Tutumluer — non-traditional materials, stabilization, intelligent construction, rail substructures, harbour geotechnics, subsurface sensing, climate effects; journal dissemination.
  • 2022–2026: Chair: Tatsuya Ishikawa — continued cooperation/knowledge exchange; membership grew to 95 across 34 countries.
