Dr. Yoshitaka Nara awarded Shigen Sozai Gakkaifs Encouragement Prize at the youngest age.

Shigen Sozai Gakkai (MMIJ) decided to award the 31st Encouragement Prize to Dr. Nara, a COE post-doctoral research fellow at the Labboratory of Terrestrial Field Engineering, whose research entitled "Pioneering study of fracture mechanics of rock combined with physicochemical reaction" has been highly approved.
The award is given to a member of the society who is younger than 40 years old and who has achieved a unique and prospective research. While most of the past recipients have been awarded in their late 30s, Dr. Nara has broken the record for the youngest prizewinner at his mere 30 years of age, followed by Dr. Mayumi Ito, the last year's prizewinner and an assistant at the Laboratory of Mineral Processing and Resources Recycling in Hokkaido University.
