TEST APPARATUS AND PROCEDURES

Outcomes from International Collaborative Research
Programmes

TC101 (including the former body, TC29) and JGS (Japanese Geotechnical Society) have implemented several international collaborative research programmes involving its members and their laboratories. The most prominent and informative among them are round-robin tests conducted with the aim of evaluating the accuracy of soil property characterisation performed with each member's best practice. The outcomes are now published and available to anybody for free. Please follow the link below to see the publications.

1. Characterisation of cyclic undrained shear strength by triaxial tests
 - Part 1  (JGS)

Toki, S., Tatsuoka, F., Miura, S., Yoshimi, Y., Yasuda, S. and Makihara, Y. (1986): Cyclic undrained triaxial strength of sand by a cooperative test program, Soils and Foundations, 26(3), 117-156.

2. Characterisation of cyclic undrained shear strength by triaxial tests
 - Part 2 (JGS)

Miura, S., Toki, S. and Tatsuoka, F. (1994): Cyclic undrained triaxial behavior of sand by a copperative test program in Japan, Dynamic Geotechnical Testing, ASTM STP1213, 246-260.
