A message from the Chair of IS-Hokkaido2012 Local Organising Committee
I would first like to express my sincere sympathy to the many, many people affected by the recent Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami. I pray that all those affected can get back to their peaceful lives as soon as possible.
Fortunately, Sapporo City and the surrounding areas have not been affected by the earthquake, and so we will be able to hold the 2nd International Conference on Transportation Geotechnics (2nd ICTG) as originally scheduled. Sapporo City is more than 600 kilometers away from Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. According to the “Environmental Radioactivity Measurement Result” measured by Hokkaido University (http://www2.qe.eng.hokudai.ac.jp/nuclear-accident/main_english.html), the level of environmental radioactivity in our campus has not been affected by the accidents which occurred at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.
In the unlikely event there are any changes to the holding of the 2nd ICTG, or if circumstances arise which will impact it, we will promptly post a notice to that effect on this website.
Seiichi Miura,
Chair of IS-Hokkaido2012 Local Organising Committee
