HU President's fellowship 2017 [Call for applications]

Hokkaido University is calling for applications for the President’s Fellowship from prospective international students seeking master’s, professional, or doctoral degrees for October 2017 intake. Applicants must possess an excellent academic record as well as a strong interest in Hokkaido University and Japanese culture.

Applicants seeking enrollment in English Engineering Education Program can also apply for this fellowship!

【Eligibility Requirements】

Applicants must be current or alumni students of universities that have concluded Inter-University Exchange Agreements and a Memorandum of Understanding on Student Exchange with Hokkaido University.

*Students who are already enrolled at Hokkaido University can not apply for this scholarship. *Applicants can not have other scholarships or fellowships when enrolling in Hokkaido University.

Accepting applications for MEXT e3 scholarship October 2017 intake

e3 is accepting applications for prestigious Japanese government MEXT scholarship (selection by the program) for October-2017 intake.

Candidates will be chosen at the program through a competitive application process. Applicants are expected to be academically excellent and strongly motivated to conduct Master's or Doctoral level research at one of laboratories at the program.

Application deadline for October 2017 intake is November 15, 2016. List of Application documents.

* Application period for MEXT e3 scholarship October 2017 intake coinsides with the application period for regular April 2017 intake (self-supported applicants, applicants with their own shcolarship). 

Scholarship conditions, as of April 2016 (Details: MEXT Scholarships)

Duration: 2 years for Master's and 3 years for Doctoral program
Extension from Master's to Phd: possible on competitive basis
Amount of the scholarship: 145,000JPY/month for Phd and 144,000JPY/month for Masters,
additional 3000JPY is paid during the winter semester
Application fee: exempted
Tuition fees: exempted for the period of the scholarship
Arrival ticket: paid (from nearest to the place of residence international airport to international airport in Japan)
Return ticket: provided
 

Eligibility and Minimum requirements

Degree:
Applicants for Master's degree should have or be expected to complete Bachelor's degree or equivalent by the end of September 2017.
Applicants for Doctoral degree should have or be expected to complete Masters degree or equivalent by the end of September 2017.
GPA: above average grades - 3.0 on a 4 point GPA Scale, high rank in the class.
English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 TOEFL 79 or TOEIC 670 or above
Age: applicants must have been born on or after April 2, 1982.
Nationality: nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
Residence: applicants shall reside outside of Japan.
