About the laboratory

Description

In this laboratory, with the theme on appearance and the practical for an original function and characteristic of materials, we have been studying on the microstructural change of the material under a special environment and making to high performance by using high energy particles.

Especially, the research by using electron microscopes for the nano-structure and the non-equilibrium phase formation of the functional material (Hydrogen Storage Materials and Fission/fusion Reactor Materials) has been focused and the obtained basic knowledge is applied to the material development and the improvement.

Information for potential applicants

Applicants' background

We welcome the students with knowledge and background on materials science especially in metallurgy.

Who should apply?

We basically welcome all the foreign students who has a passion and a strong motivation for studying material science, however, we have our own criteria for the applicants, as follows.

1. Enough English Score :TOEFL iBT Test:79; TOEFL PBT: 550; IELTS: 6.0; TOEIC L&R: 730

2. Enough Academic Score : GPA >3.5

3. Financial Support for 2 years (Master course) or 3 years (PhD course))

How to choose a research proposal topic?

We expect the research proposals on structure materials for nuclear reactor components and/or hydrogen storage materials.

How the research proposal is evaluated?

We evaluate the applicant's: (a) basic understanding of structural metallic materials; (b) knowledge of mechanial properties and microstructure; (c) ability to compose logical discussion; and (e) ability to proceed your research by yourself aggressively.
