Removal of Hazardous Substance from Waste Plastic Materials

Plastic materials have widely used in electrical and electronic equipments. The plastic materials contain various additives according to a variety of uses. Since some additives have hazardous substances, the additives are restricted to electrical and electronic equipments. In the present study, the selective removal of the hazardous substances was investigated from waste plastic materials.

The removal method of the hazardous substance was proposed as follows: Firstly, the waste plastic materials were swelled with organic solvents, then, the hazardous substances were selectively removed by physical separation method, and finally, the plastic materials except the hazardous substances were recycled.
