Welcome to the website of Laboratory of Engineering for Maintenance System! Our laboratory was established in 1966 as the 12th laboratory in the field of civil engineering in the Faculty of Engineering in Hokkaido University, adn we celebrated the 40th Anniversary in 2007. Prof Fujita, who had been an associate professor of the Laboratory of Concrete Engineering, became the first professor of our laboratory. The name of laboratory was "Laboratory of Traffic Structure" at the first time, later being changed for several times. Since its foundation, we have conducted the research on mechanics and design of concrete structures from the early time, and made a significant contribution to the development of domestic as well as international design standards such as JSCE Standard Specification for Concrete Structures. Today, we also focus on the development of element technology on sustainability such as reinforcement technology, deterioration prediction, and recycle of concrete.

Today, we conduct various kinds of state-of-art research, and make an important contribution to the development of the society and country by actively participating various academic conferences and social activities. We also accept many international students from all over the world, which makes the atmosphere of our laboratory very international.
