The English Engineering Education program was first established in 2000 as the English Graduate Program in Socio-Environmental Engineering. While most Japanese universities call their program "international" or "special", we name ours "English" program. As "international" can be interpreted in various ways we want to oblige ourselves that we provide non-Japanese speaking students with a study program conducted entirely in English. e3 is one of a few programs offered by Japanese universities that cover almost all fields in the Graduate School of Engineering. Over one hundred courses taught in English are grouped into the following subject groups:
Field Engineering for
Environment
Students can enroll in April or October. However the MEXT scholarships offered by the program are available only for the October intake and the application deadline is 15 December of the preceding year. Eligible applicants for the MEXT scholarship must be less than 35 years of age as of April 1 of the enrollment year, have a good command of English, excellent academic records and competent in the academic field chosen. At present 71 graduate students (43 Ph.D., 28 master) from 25 countries enrolled in the program. In addition the MEXT scholarships awarded from our program, students receive scholarships from other sources, namely MEXT scholarships through the Japanese embassies, AUN/SEED-Net programs, CSC, etc. The program assists applicants in securing the acceptance letter from appropriate professors.
